Found Art (Chelsea) Unmonumental #458, 2011, Photograph

These images are from two separate projects that have nothing to do with one another. Together though, they seem to offer a narrative, mostly about hot air! The painting is explosive, veering into abstraction, while the photograph, which is from a series portraying cast-off objects found in the NY streets (or sky, as in this instance) also seems to have leapt toward abstraction. Both images are ambivalent in the same way. Maybe it’s a coincidence. Or maybe not.  – Joy Garnett, 2012
